Rikku - Final Fantasy X

I’ve enjoyed Final Fantasy for a long time but I really fell in love with it when Final Fantasy X came out. I played it a bunch of times on my PS2. Rikku is one of my favorite characters from that game so finally getting to make her costume was a huge plus for me.

I made her outfit by patterning most of it myself. I used a commercial pattern for the shorts but modifyed them to the shape I wanted and painted the stripes on them by taping them off first. I made both her arm pieces and boot covers. Her blue shoulder sleeves are actually detachable from the shoulders via snaps which makes storing and washing easier. Her wig was fairly easy to style as it was already a ponytail wig. So I secured the ponytail more and fashioned a hair tie as decoration so the stress of the hair wasn’t on the outer tie itself. I had a friend help me with the claw weapon and if I were to wear this again I would try to make this a little more travel friendly. It was also an adventure to get her leg pouch to sit correctly on my leg and was a good learning experience for me.

A time lapse of some of my crafting for this cosplay can be seen on my YouTube here.
